Flash/Actionscript Engineer

Description:

We are looking for a Flash/Actionscript engineer to join a dynamic team of developers onsite at our client in Northern Va.

Your role will be detailed, technical, flash development building leading edge web applications for some of the highest visibility and highest volume properties in the world.

The "back end" development is done by your teammates generally in Ruby+Rails. Front end design generally done by the creative department with input from the technical team.

You will do really well in this environment if:

• You know how to code an interactive flash application with intelligent image pre-loading and caching to deliver a smooth user experience while panning around among images. (like google maps, but in flash);
• You understand web architecture and data structures required to interface well with your actionscript/flash;
• You have a creative knack to introduce ideas to improve the user experience as you are coding (even if you need someone to do the design);
• You are comfortable diving into math equations and models that describe the arrangement of user elements on the screen, whether on a scrolling/zoomable timeline, a scrolling map, an interactive photo catalog;

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years software development, including at least 1 year Actionscript/Flash development and 3 years web development (java, php, perl, ruby on rails).

Extra credit given for those who have developed interactive, scrollable flash applications.

Total number of years experience not as important as previous experience with these tools and in this role. Whether you have 5 years total experience or 15, if you're a good match, we want to talk to you.
